Meet McKellar Structured Settlements, OTLA’s only remaining founding sponsor that has been part of OTLA’s story from the beginning.
We asked McKellar Structured Settlements to reflect on their long-standing relationship with OTLA and what being part of the OTLA community means to their team.
How did your company first become involved with OTLA?
McKellar has been a proud sponsor of OTLA since its inception, serving as one of the founding sponsors. From the beginning, we recognized the important role the Association would play in advancing the interests of injured individuals and supporting the lawyers who advocate on their behalf.
What led McKellar Structured Settlements to become an OTLA sponsor in the early years?
Our commitment has always been rooted in helping injured Canadians achieve long-term financial security. One of our early founders saw OTLA as an organization that shared a similar purpose of supporting the vulnerable. They believed strongly in supporting an association that would champion access to justice for injured people and ultimately benefit clients across Ontario.
Your company has supported OTLA for 35 years. What has made the partnership meaningful for so long?
Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work alongside many dedicated OTLA members who are passionate about achieving the best outcomes for their clients. OTLA has fostered a strong sense of community and we are proud that McKellar has been part of that community for all 35 years.
From your perspective, how has OTLA evolved over the past three decades?
We have had the privilege of seeing generations of lawyers evolve over the past three decades. In years past, McKellar was a sponsor of the Hub Bray Scholarship. Today, that commitment has transitioned to our sponsorship of the New Lawyers Division conference registration program, which provides discounted registration for new lawyers attending OTLA’s Spring and Fall conferences.
Do you have a memorable OTLA moment or story you’d like to share?
Rather than one particular moment, what stands out most is the many relationships with OTLA members that have been built over the past 35 years. We have had the privilege of celebrating successes, learning from one another and witnessing the remarkable growth of the plaintiff bar. Seeing generations of lawyers come together to mentor, collaborate and advocate for injured Ontarians has been especially rewarding. We are proud to have been part of that story from the very beginning and look forward to seeing what is to come!
